Abstract
A photographic element containing a compound represented by formula (I) ##STR1## wherein G represents --OR.sup.1 or --NHR.sup.2, R.sup.1 represents hydrogen or a hydrolyzable moiety, R.sup.2 represents hydrogen or an alkyl group containing from 1 to 50 carbon atoms, Z represents a photographically useful group, A represents an atomic group forming an aromatic ring, Ball represents an organic immobilizing group on the aromatic ring, which cntains from 8 to 50 carbon atoms, m represents an integer of 1 or 2, X represents a divalent organic group, Nu represents a nucleophilic group, and n represents an integer of 1 or 2, and X with the nucleophilic group Nu is capable of forming a 5- to 12-membered ring by oxidation having an electrophilic center at the carbon atom substituted by the --NHSO.sub.2 Z group.
