Abstract

The invention relates to diacids resulting from tetrahydrophthalic acid (chlorendic acid). The diacids correspond to the formula ##STR1## in which R represents the radical ##STR2## or the radical ##STR3## They are prepared using an excess of chlorendic acid. They can be used as fireproofing additives for polymeric materials or as prepolymers for polycondensation reactions.
