Abstract
The administration internally to humans of 1-(B-hydroxethyl)-2-methyl-5-nitromidazole, (metronidazole) in a dosage range for adult humans of about 31 to 2,500 mgs per twenty-four hour period, is an effective therapeutic treatment for certain viral infections causing diverse symptoms both acute and chronic. Corresponding dosage proportional to body weight appears effective in other mammals also.
