Abstract

A method for heating in a pusher-type furnace a continuously cast steel slab for production of a high magnetic flux density, grain-oriented silicon steel sheet, which comprises holding the portion of the slab having the lowest temperature during the heating at 1300.degree. C. or higher for 30 minutes or longer, so that the final temperature of that portion reaches 1330.degree. C. or higher.
