Abstract
High density ion exchange resins are prepared from cross-linked, haloalkylated monovinylidene aromatic polymers which have been halogenated in the presence of a Friedel-Crafts catalyst. For example, a cross-linked chloromethylated polystyrene brominated in the presence of ferric chloride (FeCl.sub.3) may be subsequently aminated to form a high density anion exchange resin useful in thick process slurries such as those employed in uranium recovery.
