Abstract
A generating circuit regenerates a color sub-carrier of a PAL color television system on the basis of a reproduced horizontal sync (synchronizing) pulse and a color burst signal. In order to avoid discontinuity of the regenerated sub-carrier due to signal drop-outs, the reproduced sync pulse is supplied to a counter type automatic frequency control (AFC) circuit which can supply a continuous horizontal frequency signal in spite of drop-outs of the reproduced horizontal sync pulse. When the reproduced burst signal is dropped out, the phase of the sub-carrier signal is changed from one phase to another, for example, from +135.degree. to -135.degree., in order to maintain the swinging conditions of the sub-carrier sequence of the color television system.
