Abstract

Benzamides of formula I ##STR1## are described, in which R=CH.sub.3, Cl or COOCH.sub.3 ; R' is a member selected from the group of dialkylamine, pyrrolidine, piperidine, and morpholine radicals. CH.sub.2 R' is in position ortho, meta, or para with respect to the carbonyl group; and their salts thereof with pharmaceutically acceptable acids are described. The novel compounds exhibit local anaesthetic and antiarrhythmic activity.
