Abstract

A method for forming a cyan dye image by development of an exposed silver halide photographic material with a developer containing a cyan coupler of the following formula: ##STR1## in which R represents hydrogen atom or an alkyl group having a carbon number of one to twenty; R.sub.1 represents an alkylsulfonamide or alkylsulfamoyl group; R.sub.2 represents an alkyl, aryl group or a 5 or 6-membered heterocyclic group containing a nitrogen, oxygen or sulfur atom; R.sub.3 represents a hydrogen or halogen atom; X represents an alkylene, metaphenylene or orthophenylene group; Z represents a hydrogen atom or a split-off radical; and n has an integral value of one or two.
