Abstract

In the method of producing 3-chloropropyltrichlorosilane by the addition reaction of trichlorosilane to allyl chloride, [Pt(PPh.sub.3).sub.2 Cl.sub.2 ] is used as the catalyst for the reaction. Side reactions are suppressed to give a high yield of the product.
