Abstract
Improved levels of abrasion resistance, breaking strength are coupled with high levels of resilience, as measured by durable-press appearance rating and wrinkle recovery angles, by a process in which cotton or cotton-containing fabric is treated with polyfunctional N-methylol reagents, a Br.phi.nsted acidic catalyst or Br.phi.nsted acid-generating catalyst and selected phosphate salts. The fabric is impregnated with these and supplementary agents as desired and cured by conventional methods.
