Abstract

An oil-in-water insecticidal and acaricidal emulsion comprising 1 to 50% by weight of as a hydrophobic insecticidally and acaricidally active liquid ingredient at least one ester of the formula (I): ##STR1## where X is a hydrogen atom, a chlorine atom, a bromine atom or a fluorine atom; and Y is a group of the formula: ##STR2## where R.sub.1 is a methyl group or a group of the formula: ##STR3## where R.sub.5 is a chlorine atom, a bromine atom, a fluorine atom or a methyl group; R.sub.2 is a hydrogen atom or a methyl group; R.sub.3 is a chlorine atom, a bromine atom, a fluorine atom or a tert-butyl group; and R.sub.4 is an isopropyl group or a cyclopropyl group; 2 to 10% by weight of polyvinyl alcohol or gum arabic; and 0.1 to 20% by weight of a thickener with the balance being water.
