Abstract

Disclosed is the new pentanuclear bimetallic cluster complex H.sub.2 Fe.sub.2 Os.sub.3 (CO).sub.15. Such complex is made by reacting a salt of [HFe(CO).sub.4 ].sup.1- and H.sub.2 Os.sub.3 (CO).sub.10 in a solvent which solubilizes said salt to generate an [HFe(CO).sub.4 ].sup.1- anion. Addition of a protic acid then causes the formation of H.sub.2 Fe.sub.2 Os.sub.3 (CO).sub.15.
