Abstract
An etched plate used to simulate an infrared target for trainees using siated weapons. Selectively etching the plate in a variety of fashions successfully imitates the thermal signature of the simulated target. The simulated weapons are then 'fired' at the plate and hits recorded. The plate may be electrically heated.
