A penicillanic acid of the general formula ##STR1## wherein R.sup.1, R.sup.2 and R.sup.3 each represent a hydrogen atom or a lower alkyl group, provided that R.sup.1, R.sup.2 and R.sup.3 do not simultaneously represent a hydrogen atom, or a biologically acceptable salt thereof.
