Abstract
Benzylpyrimidines of the formula ##STR1## wherein R.sup.1 and R.sup.2, independently, are C.sub.1-6 -alkyl, R.sup.3 is C.sub.1-3 -alkyl and R.sup.4 is methylene or C.sub.2-4 -alkylidene and physiologically compatible acid addition salts thereof, are described. The compounds of formula I are useful as antibacterial agents and as potentiators of sulfonamides. In yet another aspect, the invention relates to intermediates for the preparation of the compounds of formula I.
