Abstract

4,5-methano-bufadienolide-rhamnosides of the formula I ##STR1## where R.sup.1 is hydrogen or alkyl or acyl of 1 to 4 carbon atoms, R.sup.2 and R.sup.3 are identical or different and each is hydrogen or alkyl or acyl of 1 to 4 carbon atoms, or both together are ##STR2## where R.sup.4 and R.sup.5 are identical or different and each is hydrogen or alkyl or alkoxy of 1 or 2 carbon atoms. The novel compounds may be used for counteracting cardiac insufficiency.
