Abstract

The invention provides novel organotin compounds and their preparation by reaction of organotin halides with mercaptans, thiocarboxylic acid esters, carboxylic acids or carboxylic acid partial esters. Suitable organotin halides are those obtained by reaction of Sn+HCl with an olefin which carries a carbonyl group in adjacent position to the olefinic double bond and which is substituted in addition by at least one carboxylate group not adjacent to the double bond. The novel compounds are used as starting for stabilizing halogen-containing polymers without influencing their transparency.
