Abstract

Organophosphorus acid compounds react by a metathesis reaction in a liquid media with tetravalent metal ions to yield layered crystalline to amorphous inorganic polymers having the empirical formula M(O.sub.3 PR).sub.2 where M is the tetravalent metal and R is an organic group covalently bonded to phosphorus.
