Abstract
A process for the production of 2-chlorobenzonitrile derivatives represented by the general formula (I): ##STR1## (wherein n is a number of 1 or 2) characterized by reacting a compound of the general formula (II): ##STR2## (wherein Cl.sub.n is as defined above) with lithium chloride or a mixture of lithium chloride and anhydrous aluminum chloride or with lithium aluminum chloride in an aprotic solvent.
