Abstract

Flame-retarded, reinforced and unreinforced thermoplastic compositions having improved arc resistance are provided comprising a high molecular weight linear polyester, such as poly(1,4-butylene terephthalate) and the like, a flame-retarding amount of a flame-retardant, such as a halogenated aromatic polycarbonate, and novaculite. A process for improving the arc resistance of reinforced or unreinforced flame-retardant polyester compositions is also provided, the process comprising admixing novaculite with a high molecular weight linear polyester and a flame retardant.
