Abstract

An improved process for the preparation of tris-(.beta.-hydroxypropyl) isocyanurate by the reaction of propylene oxide with cyanuric acid. Propylene oxide and cyanuric acid are reacted at a temperature of between about 100.degree. and 150.degree. C. at an elevated pressure, and in the absence of a catalyst, in a reaction medium of a polyhydroxy compound which is a liquid at the reaction temperature and in which the tris-(.beta.-hydroxypropyl) isocyanurate is soluble or with which it is miscible.
