A portable flower pot for house plants which is essentially open at the bottom, the bottom of which is in the form of a grid or a screen, said bottom prior to adding the growing medium being at least 35% open and preferably at least 75% open, said grid or screen having openings at least 1/36' and smaller than about 1/8' in the largest dimensions.
