Acryloxy- and methacryloxy-alkyl-propanals and a process for their manufacture by esterifying the corresponding .beta.-hydroxyalkylpropanals with acrylic acid and methacrylic acid, respectively, in the presence of an acid esterification catalyst and of an inert diluent.
