Abstract

A semi-cordierite grog composition is made by forming a mixture comprising about 8 to about 20 weight percent olivine and about 80 to about 92 weight percent of a natural mineral selected from the group consisting of kaolin, bentonite, aluminum silicates, diaspore, quartz and mixtures thereof, wherein the kaolin comprises at least 75 weight percent of the natural mineral, and sintering the mixture at a temperature of about 1330.degree. C. to about 1390.degree. C.
