4-Phenyl-8-amino-tetrahydroisoquinolines of the formula ##STR1## in which R.sub.1 stands for bromine and R.sub.2 stands for hydrogen or both R.sub.1 and R.sub.2 represent chlorine, and their salts with physiologically tolerated acids, pharmaceutical preparations prepared therefrom, process for the manufacture of these preparations and their use for the treatment of depressive conditions.
