Abstract

A silver halide photographic light-sensitive element which comprises at least one hydrophilic colloid layer containing at least one basic polymer and at least one oxonol dye of the following formula (I): ##STR1## wherein X represents a hydrogen atom, a halogen atom, an alkyl group, an akloxy group, an alkylthio group, an alkoxycarbonyl group or an amino group; Y represents a hydrogen atom, a halogen atom, a sulfo group, a lower alkyl group or a hydroxy group; L represents a methine group; M represents a cation; and n represents a positive integer of from 1 to 3. In this element, the hydrophilic colloid layer can be dyed selectively and the dye can be decolorized readily and completely.
