Abstract

The spiramycin derivatives of the formula: ##STR1## wherein R.sup.1 represents acetyl, propionyl or hydrogen, A represents butenylene or butadienylene (wherein any double bonds present in A are trans), and R.sup.2 represents a group of the formula: ##STR2## wherein Z represents bivalent saturated or unsaturated alkylene of 1 to 6 carbon atoms, Y represents sulphur or oxygen, and R.sup.3 represents alkyl of 1 to 6 carbon atoms, cycloalkyl of 3 to 8 carbon atoms, aryl or aralkyl in which the alkylene moiety is of 1 to 6 carbon atoms and their non-toxic salts possess therapeutic and growth-promoting activity.
