Abstract

Smoke-suppressant polymer compositions are described comprising a resinous polymer of vinyl chloride and a sufficient amount of a smoke-suppressant amount of a heterocyclic compound of the formula ##STR1## where R' is hydrogen or C.sub.1 to C.sub.8 linear or branched alkyl carboxylate and where R' is hydrogen, C.sub.1 to C.sub.8 linear or branched alkoxy, C.sub.1 to C.sub.8 alkoxy substituted linear or branched C.sub.1 to C.sub.8 alkoxy, or furfuryloxy; ##STR2## WHERE X IS 1 OR 2; WHERE X IS 1, R'' is C.sub.1 to C.sub.8 linear or branched alkoxy alkyl or C.sub.1 to C.sub.10 alkoxy alkoxy alkyl; and where x is 2, R'' is C.sub.1 to C.sub.8 linear or branched alkylene, C.sub.1 to C.sub.10 linear or branched oxyalkylene, or C.sub.1 to C.sub.10 linear or branched polyoxyalkylene; or 3. mixtures thereof.
