Abstract

The title compound is prepared by contacting 6-oxatricyclo[3.2.1.1.sup.3,8 ]nonan-7-one with a stoichiometric amount of a reducing agent, such as lithium aluminum hydride, at reducing conditions, such as reflux temperature and pressure. This difunctional, endo-specific product is useful in the preparation of various polymer systems illustrated by polyesters, polyurethanes, polycarbonates, etc.
