The new compound vincane of the formula ##STR1## is prepared by the reduction or reductive dehydratation, respectively, a compound of the formula ##STR2## wherein A.about.B represents the group --CH.dbd.CH-- or ##STR3## i.e. of vincamenine or of vincanol.
