Abstract

A cardio-protective pharmaceutical composition is disclosed, which composition comprises an inert carrier and a pharmaceutically-effective amount of a combination of 2,4,7-triamino-6-phenyl-pteridine (triamterene) and a calcium antagonist, such as .alpha.-isopropyl-.alpha.-[(N-methyl-N-homoveratryl)-.gamma.-aminopropyl]- 3,4-dimethoxyphenyl-acetonitrile-hydrochloride (verapamil).
