Abstract

A method for processing steel strip, which comprises cold-rolling the steel strip, coiling the rolled steel strip and annealing the coiled steel strip, wherein a rolling oil emulsion containing 0.1 to 5 percent by weight of SiO.sub.2 in the form of stabilized silicic acid sol and having a pH value between 5.0 and 9.0 is applied to the steel strip prior to coiling and the rolling oil emulsion so employed.
