Abstract

Trimethyl-p-benzoquinone is produced in good yields quickly by oxidation of 2,3,6-trimethyl-phenol in the presence of a complex cobalt salt of the general formula: ##STR1## in which: R.sup.1 and R.sup.2, which can be identical or different, each represents an alkoxy radical possessing 1 to 4 carbon atoms, and R.sup.3 represents a divalent hydrocarbon radical possessing 2 to 15 carbon atoms, in an inert organic solvent medium.
