Abstract

Process for the preparation of phosphates of the formula ##STR1## wherein R represents hydrogen, alkoxy or alkyl having 1 to 8 C atoms, perfluoroalkyl having 1 to 8 C atoms, or halogen, a is 0.05 to 3.0, b is 0, 1, 2 or 3 and c is 1 or 2, by brominating the corresponding aroxyalkyl-(.beta.-chloroalkyl) phosphates, characterized in that aroxyalkyl-(.beta.-chloroalkyl) phosphates are reacted at temperatures between about -10.degree. and 80.degree. C. with an approximately equimolar mixture of bromine and chlorine, especially bromine chloride.
