Abstract

An article for softening fabrics in an automatic clothes dryer comprises a non-staining fabric softening mixture being substantially free of unneutralized fatty acids in releasable combination with a dispensing means. The softening mixture comprises a fabric softening component consisting of sorbitan esters in combination with a phase-modifying component consisting of water-soluble C.sub.10 -C.sub.20 neutralized alkyl sulfates.
