Abstract
Cationic azo dyes of formula ##STR1## wherein R represents a substituted or unsubstituted alkyl radical, each of R.sub.1 and R.sub.2 represents hydrogen or a substituted or unsubstituted alkyl or aryl radical, X.sup..crclbar. is the charge equivalent of an anion, and wherein the benzene ring A and the pyridine ring B are unsubstituted or substituted by non-ionogenic substituents, and wherein the cationic component does not contain any groups which exhibit acid dissociation in water.
