Abstract

The invention is concerned with certain novel 6,7-benzomorphan derivatives having analgesic and/or morphine-antagonistic properties of the formula ##STR1## wherein each R is a lower alkyl group; R.sub.1 is a hydrogen atom, or an alkyl, haloalkyl, alkenyl, haloalkenyl, alkinyl, cycloalkyl, cycloalkenyl, cycloalkylalkyl, cycloalkenylalkyl, cycloalkylidenealkyl, aralkyl, heteroarylalkyl or heterocycloalkylalkyl group; R.sub.2 is a hydrogen atom or a hydroxy, alkoxy, alkoxyalkoxy or acyloxy group. Such 6,7-benzomorphans may be in the form of their optically active enantiomers and/or their therapeutically acceptable salts. Methods for producing such 6,7-benzomorphan derivatives, and novel intermediates useful for such production are also disclosed and form part of the invention.
