Abstract
The present invention relates to dialkyl ({[3-(alkoxy-carbonyl)-1,4-dihydro-4-oxo-8-quinolinyl]amino}methylene)-pro panedioates having the following structural formula: ##STR1## wherein R.sub.1 is lower alkyl; and R.sub.2 is hydrogen, halogen, lower alkyl or nitro. These compounds exhibit antibacterial activity against gram positive and gram negative bacteria and are therefore useful in the treatment of bacterial infections caused by these organisms.
