Cyclopenta[b]thiophene derivatives of formula: ##STR1## in which R.sub.1 is lower alkyl, R.sub.2 is hydrogen or lower alkyl, and R.sub.3 is hydrogen, lower alkyl, or aminoalkyl, and their salts are useful in therapy particularly as analgesic and anti-inflammatory agents.
