The reaction is run in an aqueous, organic, or water-organic medium at 20.degree.-40.degree. C. The monochlorotriazine dye thus formed is active and possesses bactericidal properties. On dyeing fibres, it endows them with high bactericidal properties retained after repeated wet treatments.
