Abstract

The present invention is concerned with novel sulfonamide compounds of the general formula: ##STR1## and pharmaceutically acceptable acid addition salts thereof, wherein Ar represents an optionally substituted phenyl group or a saturated heterocyclic group, Am represents a dialkylamino group or a saturated heterocyclic group, A represents a 3-benzofuryl or 3-benzo[b] thienyl group, substituted in the 2-position by a lower alkyl group and optionally substituted in the 5-position by a halogen atom or a lower alkoxy group, and n is the integer 2 or 3. Said compounds are effective for treating certain pathological or otherwise abnormal conditions of the heart and more particularly angina pectoris.
