Abstract

A method for preventing and eradicating bacterial infectious plant disease which comprises applying to plants a composition containing, as an active ingredient, at least one 4(1H)-oxo-3-quinolinecarboxylic acid derivative represented by the general formula (I): ##STR1## wherein A represents --OCH.sub.2 O--(at the 6 and 7 position) or ##STR2## (at the 5 and 6 position), wherein R.sub.4 represents a hydrogen atom or a lower alkyl group; R.sub.1 represents a hydrogen atom, a lower alkyl group, an amino group, an ammonium group or an alkali metal atom; R.sub.2 represents a lower alkyl group, a halogenated lower alkyl group, a hydroxyalkyl group, an alkenyl group, or an alkoxyl group; and R.sub.3 represents a hydrogen atom or a lower alkyl group.
