Abstract
A process for the preparation of an amino-nitro-phenol by partial reduction of a polynitrophenol by contacting the polynitrophenol with an aqueous ammonia solution and a sulfide ion, the ammonia being present in an amount of 1 to 8 mols ammonia per mol of polynitrophenol and the sulfide being present in an amount of 2.5 to 6 mols sulfide ion per mol polynitrophenol, the process being conducted at a temperature of from room temperature to 100.degree. C.
