Abstract

A drill rod table bushing arrangement which supresses drill steel whip while drilling under high thrust loads, and also prevents drill cuttings from accumulating on the drill table. A power operated ball wedge is operative to engage a drill rod, while high pressure air jets prevent drill cuttings from getting into the bushing.
