Hypertension can be treated with a nicotinate of chroman of the formula: ##STR1## WHEREIN N IS AN INTEGER OF FROM 0 TO 3, R.sub.1 stands for ##STR2## and R.sub.2 stands for --CH.sub.3 or ##STR3## with the proviso that when R.sub.1 is ##STR4## R.sub.2 is --CH.sub.3 and the case where both of R.sub.1 and R.sub.2 stand for --CH.sub.3 is excluded.
