High bulk density modification III of isotactic polybutene-1 is directly prepared by polymerizing butene-1 at 100.degree.-200.degree. C, preferably 140.degree.-160.degree. C., with a catalyst of: (a) titanium trichloride and (b) an alkyl aluminum compound.
