Abstract

In order to separate optically active D- or L-.alpha.-phenylglycine hydrochloride from a supersaturated solution of DL-.alpha.-phenylglycine hydrochloride seed crystals of the desired D- or L-isomer are added to the solution in the presence of a metal chloride.
