C, using per mole of phosphorus oxychloride at least 1 mole of dimethylammonium chloride and optionally distilling off A or B from the reaction mixture. The compounds A and B produced according to the process are valuable intermediate products for the manufacture of pesticides, solvents, and lubricants.
