Abstract

A process for racemizing optically active amino compounds, which comprises contacting an optically active compound of the general formula ##STR1## wherein R.sub.1 is an alkyl, cycloalkyl, substituted or unsubstituted phenyl, or non-aromatic heterocyclic group, and R.sub.2 is a hydrogen atom or an alkyl or substituted or unsubstituted phenyl group, With ammonia and hydrogen in the presence of a hydrogenation catalyst.
