Abstract
A method for the production of 2-[(2-hydroxymethyl)phenyl]-2-oxazolines by condensing o-phthalaldehyde with an alkanolamine represented by the formula ##STR1## where R is an alkyl group of 1 to 3 carbon atoms and R.sup.1 is hydrogen or methyl. The compounds have utility as tranquilizing agents.
